Just a note about our cancellation policy: We know it seems pretty tough for a place devoted to keeping things easy, but please remember that our teachers are contractors who make a living lesson by lesson. They are not salaried and they are not on an hourly wage. When we create a teacher’s schedule they agree to prioritize us over any other possible work, because it is important to us that we respect your commitment to us. If we did not have these policies in place it would mean that each time a student cancels, without rescheduling, it is an unexpected loss of income for our incredible teachers. We firmly believe we have some of the best music teachers in NYC and we ask your help in respecting their commitment and valuing their time. This only works if we all work together.

We have a strict 24 hr cancelation policy, so lessons canceled with less than 24 hrs notice by the student cannot be rescheduled, nor will a refund/credit be given. The student will be marked attended and the class removed from their pack or semester.

Student Cancellation: Class Packs

Lessons canceled with more than 24 hrs notice can be rescheduled, according to the availability of the teacher, OR make-up time will be credited to your account, which will expire in two months from the date of issue.

We adhere to a strict 24hr rule! If your lesson is Wednesday at 3pm and you cancel Tuesday at 3:30, this is considered less than 24 hrs.

If a student reschedules an excessive amount of times, we will work together to find a time that works better for them, so their slot can be available for other students!

All makeup lessons can be held remotely!

Student Cancellation: Semester Enrollment

Lessons canceled with more than 24 hrs notice can be made up anytime during the course of the semester. A make-up credit will be placed on your account, if a time to reschedule isn’t immediately available.

Make-Up Credits

Make-up credit will be placed on the student’s account in 15 minute blocks, which can be used individually to either extend already scheduled lessons, when the schedule allows, OR combined for a full lesson.

Any family member can use the credit OR it can be gifted to another family.

Once the credit is on your account, it is your responsibility to schedule the make-up time.

There is a slight difference in how make-up credit works, depending on how you are enrolled.

For class packs: all lessons canceled with more than 24 hours notice will come off of the pack, but a make-up credit will be applied to your account. This credit will expire in 2 months. The credit is meant to be used in addition to your regularly scheduled lessons and cannot be tacked onto the end of a pack.

For Semester Enrollment: all lessons canceled with more than 24 hours notice will result in a make-up credit being applied to your account. This credit needs to be used by the end of the semester- it will not rollover.

IF YOUR CREDIT EXPIRES we will be donating the cost of the lesson to help support our sliding scale students.

Student Cancellation: Group Classes

Absences in group classes cannot be made up, so please try to attend each class!

Student Illness

In the event that the student is ill, the 24 hr cancelation policy still applies. We understand these things can’t be predicted, but we cannot make exceptions. No students should attend lessons when sick (i.e. fever, nausea, vomiting, etc.). We will need to dismiss a student from a scheduled lesson if the student arrives exhibiting symptoms of illness. In this case, a makeup lesson will not be offered. Please, if your child did not attend school due to illness do not bring them to their lesson. Private music lessons involve close quarters and shared objects, so please respect the health of your teacher and other students. If you well enough for a lesson, but shouldn’t share space, just let us know and we will get a zoom lesson set up for your regularly scheduled time!


Instructor Absences

In the event of an instructor absence, we will make every effort to provide a qualified substitute, schedule a timely make-up session for lessons missed, or place make-up credit on your account, to be used within two months.

Monday Lessons

We will rarely be closed on Monday holidays, so if you are a Monday student be prepared to either hop online (it can be at any day/time that you can schedule with your teacher) or reschedule to a different day during the week. We will make every effort to accommodate.

Snow Days/Pandemic/Wildfire Smoke

If the school needs to close for any reason, we will hold all lessons virtually. Group classes will be made up on another day. If you opt out of virtual lessons and don’t reschedule, you will be marked attended, but given makeup time credit on your account, which will expire in two months.

Class Pack Renewal

All students must have a card on file with the school, regardless of how they are enrolled. Class Packs will automatically be charged when there is one class remaining on the pack. You can pause or stop at anytime! If you need to stop your lessons for any reason, please just let us know before the last lesson of the pack. Notifications are sent when there is one lesson remaining, in case you lose track of where you are at in your series. If you opt out of auto-renew, or don’t have a card on file, please note that we cannot reserve your time slot beyond the length of the current pack. Auto-renewing insures that you always have your lesson on our schedule!

Refunds

If you purchase a class pack, semester, or group class that you are unable to use, we can do a one time freeze OR you can donate your remaining classes to another student that would really benefit!
